To make the wooden board weatherproof, it is important to impregnate it carefully. The first step is to thoroughly sand the whole board with a sanding machine. The last glue residues should be removed as well. The surfboard must be dry and dustfree before the first layer of linseed oil is applied, otherwise the oil will not stick well to the surface.

Apply the oil evenly with a fabric. When the oil is absorbed into the wood, approximately after an hour, the excess oil can be removed again with a fabric. The process can be repeated a second time.

Then a mixture of carnaubawax, beeswax and linen oil is applied to the surface. (Recipe) The mixture is distributed evenly and quickly on the surfboard.

Good to Know

If imperfections appear during the application of the mixture, unevenness can be repaired afterwards with a fine sandpaper. The mixture can then be applied second time. It is important to heat the mixture, but make sure that it does not boil.
