When shaping, the protrusions of the bottom and top plate are planed off to the side until they are aligned with the edges and form a smooth surface. The rails are sanded round.
The surface of the entire surfboard is sanded with increasingly fine sandpaper until all glue joints have disappeared and the surface is smooth.
Good to Know
We shaped the tail before we glued the top plate. For a repetition of the construction we would glue the cover plate on a solid block at the tail and later make the curves for it. This increases the contact area for the connection from the cover plate to the rear end of the board.
